The 2012 spring season has come to an end. The Northern Storm took some GREAT strides this spring going 13-5, playing in 4 tournaments. We added some new players to the mix this year and it had an immediate impact. The players we added fit together perfectly with the returning boys and really hit it off. They became friends, team mates, and better hockey players. Our accomplishments were very good also, taking 4th place in 3 tournaments: the Warrior cup  (4-1), the Northern Wings  (2-2), and the BBTB  (3-2) and taking home the Champioship at the Blizzard shootout  (4-0). It was a very exciting spring, and I can not wait to see how the boys come back and perform in the fall. 13-5 is the best spring season we have had, In reality we could have played in the championship in every tournament we played in, so we will hope to learn from that be prepared in Ausgust to do that. Have a great summer,and we will see you in Ausgust!!

The 2001 Northern Storm kicked off the 2012 season with a consulation Championship at the 2012 Warrior Cup. The boys went 3-1 and played very well for the first tournament of the season. They started out with an 8-2 victory over the Reebok Nationals Friday night. The boys played great and really set the tone early. We came up a bit short Saturday morning against Team Warrior losing 6-0, we ran into a very good goalie who was able to make sound saves and hold us off the board. The boys rebounded Saturday afternoon with a very good performance against the South Metro Jets winning 7-2. They finished the tournament with a very hard fought victory over the Minnesota Magicians 4-3 to take the Consulation game. Each member of the team gave a great effort this weekend. Starting the season 4-1 is a great start. Continue the great work and we will continue to get great results!!

We took 4th place in the Northern Wings tournament held in Duluth. It was a very talented tournament and the boys definately held our own. This was the first and only tournament this year that allowed checking at our age group, and the boys responded well. We started out with a very hard fought game against the Northern Hawks from Canada, we dropped that game 2-1, but the boys played well. Our 2nd game of the weekend was against the Wings Red, we did not play very well and dropped that game 2-0. After having a heart to heart with the boys they showed up fired upand ready to play agains the Rapid Fire and took a big win 5-4 over a very talented Rapid Fire team. we finished the weekend with a very good game against a talented MN Flames team winning 5-3, taking 4th place. The boys played pretty good all weekend with the exception of the one hick-up in game 2 it was a good weekend. The boys should be very proud of their efforts. We have improved our record to 6-3 this season. Next we are off to Minocqua where we are hunting a title!!

The 2001 Northern Storm Won the Wisconsin Blizzard Shootout this weekend in Minocqua, WI. The boys played very well all weekend long. They started out with a 10-1 win over the Wisconsin Hazard Friday night. Followed that up with a hard fought victory over the Michigan Ice Hawks 6-3 Saturday morning. We then went on and beat the Western Wisconsin Blue Devils 8-2, to set up the championship game against the host team Wisconsin Blizzards on Sunday. Ironically after taking a 2-1 lead in the first period and large STORM hit the arena.(and surrounding areas) the boys used that as inspiration to build a 4-1 lead after 2 periods and went on to take the championship game 5-3. Every player on the team contributed to this weekends success. We had a lot of fun at the hotel, go-karting and golfing also. Congratulations to every player again, a well deserved championship!! After this weekends success it brings out season record to 10-3, pretty good start...Now lets get ready to host our tournament and aim for another champioship!!

The Northern Storm boys took 4th at the 2012 BBTB tournament this year. They played very well in the pool play games going 3-0. Winning the first game 9-1 over the Rapid Fire, then went on to defeat the Rum River Renegades 6-1. We finished the pool play with a very solid game and win over the Magicians 3-2. We advanced to the semi-finals and played a good Jr badger team that handed us our fisrt loss of the weekend. The boys played very hard under some extraordinary circumstances. We finished the tournament falling to the Ice Edge Black 7-2 in the  3rd place game, again with some extraordinary circumstances. The boys played great all weekend and deserved a better outcome. We will bounce back in the fall and make a run at another championship. Congrats to the team on a well played tournament. 4th place out of 10 teams is a very good finish to the spring!!
